Our history
Family run for two generations, Doherty Hardware celebrates it's 35th anniversary in 2014. Since first opening its doors in 1977, the store has been owned and operated by Seamus and Michael Doherty and their families. Many positive changes have come about since 1977 as we have extensively remodelled and updated our store. Our longevity can be primarily attributed to the ongoing support of the local community and our staff’s dedication to providing exceptional advice, value and service to our customers.
The local community
We show our appreciation to the communities of Roscrea and the surrounding areas for their ongoing support by engaging with and providing fundraising activities and sponsorship for local schools, community groups and sporting organisations.
We are also sponsor TidyTowns, and other local charities and initiatives.
The Topline group
Becoming part of Ireland’s largest hardware buying group, Topline, has been a crucial support to the survival and success of our business. Alongside the other 150 stores nationwide that are affiliated to the Topline group, we benefit from its bulk purchasing power, from its relationship with the world’s largest independent hardware group, Ace Hardware, and from its ongoing investments in marketing, staff training, and merchandising. Collectively, these factors allow Doherty Hardware to compete effectively with domestic and international chains like Chadwicks, Heiton Buckley, Woodies, B&Q and Homebase; and to offer our customers competitive prices, better friendly service, and a welcoming shopping environment.
Everyone in Doherty Hardware is working hard every day to ensure we are around for at least another 35 years to serve our customers.
